Highly recommend Sprinkler Medics. The technician was very knowledgeable and professional and arrived on time. He fixed the sprinkler problems and advised that our pressure regulator was faulty. We got that fixed with a plumber and then he returned to make sure the sprinklers were operating properly. Amazing service and very reasonable rates.

How much does sprinkler repair cost?
Sprinkler repair is priced as a diagnostic service call plus parts and labour for the work you approve. Cost tracks how deep the failure sits in the system, and the common repairs rank in a predictable order from least to most expensive: nozzle and spray head replacement, then head riser and swing joint replacement, then solenoid and valve diaphragm replacement, then controller repair or replacement, then wire tracing and repair, then a full valve replacement requiring excavation, then a broken main or lateral line. A yard with several failed heads is usually cheaper to fix than a yard with one buried line break, because the line break has to be found before it can be repaired. How long does a sprinkler system last?
A well-maintained residential sprinkler system generally lasts around 20 years, but individual components fail much sooner and get replaced on their own schedule. Spray heads and nozzles typically last 5 to 10 years, valves and solenoids 10 to 15 years, and controllers around 10 years before the programming or the display gives out. Buried PVC lateral lines outlive all of it and can run 20 years or more if nothing digs them up. Central Texas shortens the middle of that range in three ways: hard water leaves mineral scale in nozzles, clay soil shifts and stresses fittings through the wet and dry cycle, and hard freezes crack exposed pipe and backflow assemblies. Systems that get a spring startup and a pre-freeze shutdown last noticeably longer than systems that only get looked at when something breaks.
Does homeowners insurance cover sprinkler repairs?
Homeowners insurance generally does not cover a sprinkler system that fails from age, wear or lack of maintenance, because policies treat that as a maintenance cost rather than a loss. Sudden and accidental damage is treated differently and may be covered, for example a line crushed by a vehicle, a system damaged by another contractor, or freeze damage where the policy does not require the system to have been drained. Water damage to the house caused by a broken irrigation line is often covered even when the line itself is not. Coverage varies by policy, and the system may sit under other structures or be excluded outright, so check your declarations page or ask your insurer directly.
